Job Summary
Would you relish the opportunity to put your ideas forward and influence Slough's highways and transportation service, running with your own ideas whilst managing a small team of Traffic Engineers and Technicians? We need a dynamic team leader to take responsibility for a variety of Traffic Engineering projects in Slough. You will need in depth knowledge of current design and contract standards and be willing to work hard and diligently with your team to ensure that the highest standards of work are consistently achieved. Business Summary In April 2007, Atkins Networks and Traffic (one of three market-facing business streams within Atkins Transport Planning) embarked on a five year framework commission with Slough Borough Council. We have a co-located team based in Slough who are currently working on a diverse range of projects, including: Slough Station Forecourt – a combined traffic engineering and public space project at Slough rail station. Slough High Street – a High Street Improvement Scheme that we are providing assistance on the Public consultation and TRO element. Freight Strategy – Atkins are working with the Council to produce their Freight strategy for the Borough.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate engineering problems, prepare detailed methodologies and designs, draw up specifications, programmes and cost estimates for specific jobs, keeping up-to-date with technology in your discipline
- Undertake project management of specific projects requiring more advanced project management techniques, including multi-disciplinary and framework contracts
- Ensure current QSE standards and CDM requirements are upheld at every project stage
- Manage team members workload and resourcing of projects
- Support team members with their personal and professional development and career planning and help them to define development needs and action planning
- Help to identify appropriate training activities
- Develop good relationships with existing and new clients in order to increase and enhance business to meet business targets
- Contribute to project bidding to produce winning tenders
Personal Attributes & Skills
Applicants should have the ability to work on a diverse range of projects under their own initiative. Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate the critical project issues to others are necessary attributes for this post. The ability to think clearly, write high quality reports and keep factual records of projects are essential Key Requirements - Sufficient & appropriate level of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transport planning, including experience of UK market
