The Atkins’ Environmental Sustainability business is a dynamic multidisciplinary environmental team focused on working in partnership with a diverse range of clients to deliver innovative solutions on a variety of challenging projects. We are looking for self-motivated professionals to add to our team skills and meet the increasing demand for our expertise. Atkins has recently taken first place in a host of categories in the Environment Business Consultancy Survey such as reputation in Contaminated Land, Environmental Impact Assessment / Strategic Environmental Assessment & Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC). We plan, design and enable, keeping sustainability at the heart of every project that we deliver. We are rapidly expanding across the UK and are looking for proven and confident professionals to join our team. We require a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant to join this business to support a fast expanding project workload in the Northeast region. This role can be based in either the Newcastle or Stockton offices.
Requirements
Successful candidates will: - Be self-motivated, confident and a team player
- Hold a BSc and MSc degree in environmental science, a related engineering field or equivalent
- Be a Chartered Environmentalist or working towards chartership
- Have had appropriate experience within a similar role
- Have a successful track record in seeking out leads, writing proposals, securing commissions, undertaking and contributing to projects
- Excel in project management
- Have good report writing skills
- Be numerate
We are also looking for successful candidates who have relevant experience and knowledge in some or all of the following:- - IPPC writing
- IPPC technical deliberation
- Waste Management experience
- Environmental Permitting
- Environmental due diligence
- Undertaking environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs)
- Energy/carbon management
- Company carbon foot printing
- Resource efficiency and auditing
- Sustainability
- Health and Safety company and site auditing
- Company training
The successful applicant must be willing to travel and cover the geographic area of the Northeast, and to assist in the Northwest and Scotland, as required. The Individual: The role will suit a person confident working within a reputable team and who has a proven ability to work from a satellite office. They will regularly interface with other multi-discipline Atkins offices across the UK and be assured in a client-facing role. They will have energy, drive and enthusiasm with outstanding verbal communication and technical report writing skills.All candidates must hold a full UK driving license.
Responsibilities
These will include: - Writing and appraising IPPC Permits and the new Environmental Permits.
- Due Diligence Audits: undertaking small scale audits and providing support for larger audit projects, which will involve site visits and inspections.
- Visiting different locations for EDD and ESIA projects.
- Reporting: preparing factual and interpretative reports.
