Geismar (UK) Ltd is one of the world's leading suppliers of maintenance and inspection equipment for the worldwide railway market. As part of an investment into the instrumentation development group Geismar has a vacancy for an electronics engineer in its newly extended facility in Liphook, Hampshire.
The successful candidate will have a hand's on approach to instrumentation development and support and will be involved in all aspects of the product engineering process, from PCB design, manufacturing documentation, prototype assembly and testing, small batch manufacture, documentation and post production support.
Working as part of a small team, the candidate will liaise with the existing electronic engineers, as well as mechanical and software engineers, to maintain and develop a range of world class digital measuring instrumentation.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in PCB design and support, preferably with PIC microcontroller FPGA devices. The equipment is used for real time measurement on railway track for a wide range of parameters through the use of battery operated portable systems typically weighing 5-25 kg, experience of similar real world applications is thus of significant benefit, direct railway experience is not a requirement. The role is hardware based but some software experience would be beneficial. The candidate should be experienced in using Microsoft Office. Liaison with Geismar's European manufacturing facilities will be required on a regular basis. Fluency in the French language would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
