Our client is looking for a talented engineer with either a radio background or ideally some experience of installing electrical equipment into vehicles. The role is field based working on the installation of radio and data equipment into vehicles.
Installation and first-line maintenance of vehicle mobile radio and data terminals into customer vehicles, and programming of terminal devices, within designated regions of the UK, with the ability to work nationwide during peaks of work
Responsibilities, Activities & Key Deliverables - Installation of radio terminals and mobile data systems into customer vehicles, to specifications defined by design teams.
First line maintenance of all installed products Preparation of customer vehicles for installation of systems. This will require mechanical fabrication of assemblies, wiring installation to recognised standards and safe working practices to be followed.
Testing of vehicle safety and electrical systems on completion of work, to ensure full compliance with relevant vehicle safety and EMC standards.
Testing of all installed systems to ensure compliance with expected performance specifications.
Achievement of cost-effective installations and repairs to meet expected installation completion rates, and agreed project deadlines, whilst maintaining high standards of quality.
Required Qualifications/Skills -
Basic mechanical, hand tool skills.
Vehicle electrical wiring experience.
Mobile data skills to allow testing and basic first line diagnostic repair, including ability to programme and reload software, for mobile terminals, hand-terminals and PDA devices.
