What is the role?
Our client is looking to expand their design team and seeking to appoint a CAD Technician in their Sheffield Office. The successful candidate will join a core multi-disciplinary engineering design team, providing drafting and surveying assistance on a broad range of geo-technical projects.
The Sheffield office covers the Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and East Midlands part of the Eastern Division for which it is also the administrative center, providing support to the Divisional Offices. The office provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary professional services employing around 150 technical staff. Services provided include Highways, Railways and Transportation, Civil and Water Engineering, Building Structures and Building Services, Project Management and Strategic Consultancy for a wide-ranging client base throughout the UK.
They now require an experienced CAD Technician to support the growing Civils and Bridges team.
Job description
The CAD Technician will be required to deliver high quality structural detail drawings for Transportation, Rail and Industrial disciplines within tight deadlines. Producing engineering drawings using ACAD and Micro Station software, Spreadsheet entry, manipulation and management. As well as site visits where you will be required to assist engineers in on-site survey work, which may require traveling and overtime
Candidate specification
Essential:
· Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and Micro Station
· The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts
· Motivated and can work on own initiative
· Capable of leading by example
Desirable:
· ONC or HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent
· Proficiency in RC detailing
· Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary, client-facing organization
