Structural Design Engineer Principal- Associate Director

What is the Role?

As an Associate Structural Engineer you will be involved in the hands on design of current projects. The Sheffield branch are currently bidding on many projects and successfully winning, on average, one a week. Therefore the Associate Engineer will be required to design structures in many different fields; including residential, commercial/offices, sports and leisure, retail, education, and the health sector.

Another key requirement expected from the Associate Structural Engineer will be to mentor and assist in the development of graduate engineers. This will involve reviewing designs and helping with the development and growth of your design team. Due to the large work-load, the Associate Engineer will be expected to use their own judgement and experience when running the their team, ensuring that the project is delivered within the agreed budget and timeframe.

Another key aspect of this position will be the interfacing with external clients. You will be required to attend design team meetings and represent the company on site.

Who are the likely candidates?

A likely candidate will ideally be chartered, you will need to be proactive and self motivated, and able to demonstrate previous experience in leadership and loyalty. You will need to be able to design, deliver and manage within a multi project environment.

The candidate should be able to lead by example, acting as a mentor within teams and showing experience of in-depth knowledge of structural techniques. The company are keen to continually develop their employees and therefore candidate who can show a want to develop their career through the attending of internal and external training programmes and/or individual learning.

· Chartered Structural Engineer – ICE, IstructE
· Experience of UK Design Codes
· Communication Skills
· Design Software: CSC Design Software, ROBOT etc
· Team Leadership/Mentoring
· Client Interfacing
