Our client's Leeds office has a vacancy for a Bridge Engineer to assist in the delivery of a variety of highway structures (bridges) projects, as part of an integral multi-disciplinary design team undertaking inspection, structural assessment and design of highway structures and supervision of works on site.
Working on a diverse range of major and minor projects for the Highways Agency and other clients you will be expected to co-ordinate and manage elements of projects from instruction to completion, undertake estimating, cost reporting and forecasting for small projects and elements of larger schemes and integrate with multi-disciplinary design teams, specialists, site managers and third party stakeholders.
You will also be expected to produce status reports for your work area for discussion at progress meetings with Highways Agency, Clients and other parties, you will have involvement in the tendering process for new work and will manage a small team of less experienced engineers and technicians.
There may occasionally be the need to work on site at nights and weekends to meet programmes requiring off-peak road closures and rail track possessions.
With a degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, or related subject with sufficient and appropriate experience in highway bridge design, you will possess good experience on Highways Agency (HA) or local authority projects, will have good knowledge of current HA standards, policies and processes, including the DMRB and will have the ability to produce practical solutions to design problems, whilst delivering projects within the client's budget.
Previous experience of highway bridge inspection, assessment and bridge maintenance projects would be an advantage as would good IT skills and experience of bridge design software and a familiarity with AutoCAD, spreadsheets and all Microsoft Office packages.
You will preferably have the ability and desire to work on a diverse range of projects and to communicate with others about project objectives and details.
A team player who is dedicated to the delivery of projects and development of the office, you will possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to listen to the views of other parties, will have excellent report writing and verbal communication skills and will have the ability to work to personally set deadlines, without supervision.
Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £25 - 33,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
