We are now looking to appoint an experienced Structural Engineer for our rapidly growing Structures team in the Leeds office.
Job description
As a Structural Engineer, you will be involved on a range of small to large projects which are industry and public high profile. The roles will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development. The successful applicant will be working within an established team, working on a variety of projects including Schools for the future, Residential, Retail, Commercial, and Industrial.
• Leading the technical delivery of projects • Assisting in the commercial management of projects • Reporting to the team leader and job project manager • Assist in the day to day management of the office • Act as delegated Engineer and mentor to Graduate Engineers • Engage in business development activities • Design work on a wide variety of projects using structural steelwork, post tensioned and reinforced concrete • Delivering engineering solutions and reporting results to managers and clients • Providing capabilities in dynamic analysis of sub and/or super structure engineering • Liaise effectively with other professionals (architects, services engineers etc.) • Undertake estimating, cost reporting and forecasting for small to medium sized projects, or sections of larger projects • Build client relationships and help identify business opportunities, but will not have formal client or sales accountability
Candidate specification
Essential:
• B.Sc or B.Eng or equivalent in Structural Engineering • MIStructE or MICE, or equivalent, with a buildings structures bias • Have a personal interest in Structural Engineering, utilised in a broad range of UK projects • Experience of a range of structural engineering solutions, including high rise, Offices, Commercial and mixed use • Experience in the use of structural analysis and design software - 3D modelling skills would be an distinct advantage • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and external clients/contacts • Experience in liaison with other professionals, clients and contractors with a strong customer focus • A strong technical focus • Capability to work to deadlines and work autonomously when required
Desirable:
• 1 to 2 years post Chartered experience • Experience in Business development activities • Experience in planning and managing design activities • Exposure to commercial management of projects, working on budgets etc • Ideally, experience working in UK structural engineering and involvement in the full project lifecycle • Experience working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy |
