What is the Role?
As a Principal Bridge Engineer you will be head of a growing team of engineers. You will be a very senior member of this team and you will therefore be involved in the growth and development of this team. This will include your involvement in the recruitment of new staff, both internal and external, as well the mentoring of junior staff and development of more senior. You will also be responsible for technicians within the team and you will therefore need a good understanding of design tools used for bridge engineering, such as AutoCAD or Superstress.
You will be involved in the design and assessment of bridge projects, including steel, reinforced and pre-stressed concrete. You will need a good technical understanding and experience using these materials, as you will be required to mentor more junior staff, explaining and helping where necessary.
As well as being in charge of this growing team you will be involved in the other aspects, such as client interfacing. You will be required to meet with existing, and find new clients, creating work for the team. The company is currently working on the rehabilitation and extension of the Kennedy Bridge in Germany, and the company plan for this team to be involved.

Who are the likely candidates?
A likely candidate will have a strong academic background and have achieved chartered status. You will need to have previous experience managing and developing a team, as well as the ability to show previous ability meeting with clients and winning projects. You will be involved, hands on, in much of the engineering, and will need to have previous experience designing with steel, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete as well as being able to use design tools.
Candidates who can workable progression towards achieving chartered status, with much UK experience will also be considered.
