We are looking for an Expediting & Quality Control Engineer with a technical qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline who has a good basic understanding of the materials used in the manufacture of metallurgical plant.
The Expediting & Quality Control Engineer will also need experience/knowledge of workshop processes and procedures including quality assurance, quality control, inspection and the scheduling of work and requirements for the preservation of equipment being ocean freighted.
Good communication skills will be essential as the Expediting & Quality Control Engineer will be expected to write clear and concise technical reports and liaise effectively both within the organisation and externally with suppliers and clients.
The ability to work unsupervised, independently and within a globally dispersed team are pre requisites of the job as is the willingness to work away from home for extended periods of time.
Working within the Procurement and Logistics business unit for one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, the Expediting & Quality Control Engineer will be involved with the quality control of equipment on projects and will be expected to liaise with project teams and Procurement & Logistics functions to ensure the timely delivery of a quality product.
Reporting to the QC/Logistics Manager, the Expediting & Quality Control Engineer's day to day duties will include:
* Monitoring and controlling pre-project and project activities.
* Ensuring relevant quality documentation is made available for each project/PO.
* Assessing and participating in the selection of potential contractors.
* Coordinating and recording manufacturing kick-off meetings with contractors.
* Liaising with contractors regarding materials, manufacturing and planning issues
* Challenging and interrogating the Contractors manufacturing schedules.
* Performing testing, interim and final inspections and equipment release activities including completeness checks
* Reviewing and approving contractors' quality control documentation.
* Liaising with other Procurement & Logistic functions to ensure that feed back is given on transport and logistics, shipping, and contractual issues.
* Developing proactive relationships with suppliers * Travelling and working internationally and undertaking secondments to offshore project teams carrying out the Quality Control function.
All candidates for the position of Expediting & Quality Control Engineer will have a current Driving Licence and passport and possess the ability to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice
