Our client is a major defence, aerospace and electronics company. They are UK based, UK managed and intent on meeting the needs of their military and industrial customers in the UK and in UK export markets. Their technology, based on dual civil and military capabilities, is world class and their plants and employees in the UK make a significant contribution to the nation's economy, its technical capability and its industrial base.

Vacancy: Solutions Development Manager

Location: York

Salary: Up to £55,000 + benefits.

Hours: 35 per week.

Primary Purpose of the Role:
Lead and direct the production of competitive tenders to secure targeted profitable business for the Company. This post is a key role to success of the Company and requires that strategic thinking and team direction be given to all opportunities to produce and win profitable business. Close liaison is required with other departments, particularly Sales, to develop relationships with prospective customers to fully comprehend their needs and business drivers.

Technical & Professional skills:
The post demands an experienced Business manager with proven engineering management experience a significant amount of experience should be ideally within the Transportation and Security sectors and have experience in a solution development environment.

Education & Qualifications:
The post holder will preferably hold a relevant degree or equivalent, have an appropriate membership of a recognised engineering institution be a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers and a member of The Association for Project Management.

Personality / Behaviours:
The applicant will be required to present to Senior and executive levels within the company and client organisations. They must be able to articulate to the target audience Engineering and Implementation solutions succinctly and without jargon. The applicant must therefore be confident in front of an audience and have good written and oral skills. The applicant must be experienced in leading and motivating teams.
