Our client is in a continued phase of growth and development and is therefore looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join there team.
Our client is a major producer of calcium and magnesium based chemicals and the position will be based in Buxton.
Apllicants will need to have a minimum 2-3 years experience of project work and will also ideally be educated to a minimum degree level.
Work Description
The Project Engineer will manage or participate in all or part of key steps of capex projects i.e.: § Definition of scope, development of process flow-sheet, engineering design work, specifications and cost estimates. § Identification and selection of partners providing technical assistance: consultant engineers, equipment manufacturer, etc. § Preparation of written technical specifications and material specification for construction programs associated with various industrial projects and facilities. § Work with suppliers, consultants, engineering companies providing direction and information on specific programs and projects. § Supervision of erection works and management, in close collaboration with the operational management, of the daily problems on the erection site, until commissioning of new equipment/workshops/plants. Participate in the follow up of Budget and Time Schedule.
Key Activities: § Assist the Project Manager: · Input to both technical and commercial aspects of the tendering process. · Assist / supervise all technical and operational aspects of the project, review and check engineering drawings, plans and estimates. · Ensure compliance with company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies, procedures and reporting requirements. · Ensure that the project conforms to appropriate safety standards and carries all necessary safety assessments. · Ensure compliance with Company Operating and Financial Procedures within Projects. · Detect any deviation with the objectives, budget, time schedule, … and suggest solutions and inform the hierarchy for decision. · Provide guidance and work supervision for technical personnel as required by projects. § Manage sub-contractors (engineering, civil contractors, …). § Manage potential conflicts & anticipate any trouble in the normal process of the project. § Report to the project manager on a regular basis. This reporting should include schedule and planning update, expected cost report, technical status of the project, possible technical difficulties, new project orientation, etc.
