We are looking for a commercially aware and deadline/target orientated Mechanical Engineering Manager with extensive knowledge of relevant technology and product for the Plate Mills/Metals industry and successful experience of installation and commissioning equipment relevant to the Plate Mills/Metals industry
The Mechanical Engineering Manager should have a broad based awareness of all engineering disciplines and a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solid Edge and the ability to use Microsoft Office, Project and Outlook etc.
It would be preferable but no essential if the Mechanical Engineering Manager has a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related engineering discipline, had achieved Chartered Engineer status and was a member of a relevant institute
Working in the Plate Mills Business Unit of one of the world’s leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, the Mechanical Engineering Manager will be expected to lead, control, manage and coordinate the Plate Mills mechanical engineering team.
Duties will include:-
• Controlling the allocation of mechanical resource into the various project teams.
• Ensure that departmental KPI’s are achieved.
• Providing technical support to the mechanical engineering team.
• Giving technical assistance to the project teams on projects.
• To providing leadership support to the Chief Engineer
• Participating in equipment and project Design Reviews
• Establishing work plans and staffing for projects
• Reviewing project and pre-project proposals
• Managing and motivating the mechanical engineering team
• Monitoring the performance, motivation and morale of the team
• Conducting performance reviews
• Identifying training and development needs
All candidates for the position of Mechanical Engineering Manager will need a current Driving Licence and passport and the ability to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice
