Fluids Engineer (Continuous Casting) x 2 – Mechanical Engineering qualification - engineering operations, maintenance or contracting experience in medium or heavy engineering - manufacturing drawings of pipework for large process and mechanical plant – CAE systems - based Sheffield or Stockton-on-Tees – salary Available on application - please call We are looking for two Fluids Engineers (Continuous Casting) who have degrees/HNC or equivalent in a mechanical engineering or related discipline and who have experience in an engineering operations, maintenance or contracting role in the medium or heavy engineering or similar relevant Industry.
The Fluids Engineers (Continuous Casting) will need to have thorough knowledge and experience of the preparation of engineering drawings to ISO / national standards and experience in the production of fluids schematics / flowcharts; P & ID’s and detailed manufacturing drawings of pipework for large process and mechanical plant.
Comprehensive experience in the use of CAE systems for the preparation of engineering drawings and documentation with 2D packages is essential and experience of hydraulic systems for large industrial plant and equipment a benefit
Experience in the use of a 3D CAE Packages and of a multi discipline role embracing mechanical, fluids and electrical / automation functions would be preferred
Working in the Iron & Steel Business Unit of one of the world’s leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, the Fluids Engineer (Continuous Casting) will be expected to execute projects for the design and supply of Continuous Casting and, occasionally, Blast Furnace projects.
Fluids systems, including water, hydraulics, lubrication and gaseous systems are a key feature of a modern continuous casting machine and these systems are essential elements in the advanced technological packages which the company offers its customers for continuous casting. This makes continuous casting fluids engineering both a challenging and rewarding role.
Day to day duties will include:-
• System engineering including detail drawings for fluids systems and equipment • Pipework engineering including detail drawings for interconnecting pipework • Checking of engineering drawings produced within the department • The preparation of calculations • The preparation of engineering specifications • Preparation of the technical portion of purchase orders • Technical monitoring of procurement • Supervision, technical advice and guidance to more junior departmental staff • Inspection at vendor works • Technical supervision during site installation and commissioning • Preparation of cost estimates for pre projects • Preparation and giving of presentations
All candidates for the position of Fluids Engineer (Continuous Casting) will need a current Driving Licence and passport and must beable to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice
