Welding Engineer - Member of the Welding Institute UK - qualified in Materials Science or related discipline - experience of working in a capital equipment/heavy engineering manufacturing environment preferred - based Leeds - salary £40 - 50K

We are looking for a Welding Engineer who is qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Materials Science or a related discipline and who has a demonstrable track record in a Welding Engineer role

Candidates should hold professional Membership of the Welding Institute UK and, preferably, be Certified European Welding Engineers who have experience of working in a capital equipment/heavy engineering manufacturing environment

Knowledge of Inconel Cladding Welding would be of benefit as would experience of implementing change and leading improvement

The main purpose of the role of Welding Engineer is to implement processes and controls for the continuous improvement of the welding function within the company and identify and eradicate potential reliability/failure issues

Day to day duties will include -

* Developing new processes and controls in line with the continuous development of the welding function
* Analysing data relating to weld failure rates
* Preparing weld failure issue reports
* Selecting welding equipment and consumables
* Overseeing fabrication techniques and production welding
* Giving recommendations on new technologies and methodologies
* Overseeing non-destructive test activity to include ultra-sonic, x-ray and MPI
