We are looking for a commercially aware and deadline/target orientated Quality Engineer with a good understanding of material properties/standards and the processes used in the manufacture of heavy machinery.
The Quality Engineer (Heavy Machinery) should have a good understanding of quality assurance procedures combined with a broad based awareness of all engineering disciplines.
Computer Literate with experience of and ability to use Microsoft Office, Project and Outlook the Quality Engineer (Heavy Machinery) would, preferably but not essentially, have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related engineering discipline and have Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant institute.
Working in the Plate Mills Business Unit of one of the world’s leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, the role of the Quality Engineer (Heavy Machinery) will be to support the engineering department in defining the quality requirements for designs and to ensure that these requirements are understood and satisfied by the various equipment suppliers. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, day to day duties will include:-
• Reviewing client standards at the pre-project stage • Producing quality documentation • Assisting Engineers with manufacturing methods and limitations • Assisting with the selection of suitable materials for the equipment being designed • Ensuring that quality requirements are understood • Answering queries during the manufacturing process • Ensuring adherence with company policies and procedures
All candidates for the position of Quality Engineer will need to have a current Driving Licence and passport and be able to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice
