We are looking for a Materials Controller Candidates with a recognised degree/HND/HNC (or equivalent) in engineering or logistics and previous experience in Materials Control for large capital goods projects.
The Materials Controller will also need to have Project Management experience gained preferably on metallurgical or power generation projects and be capable of creative low cost procurement strategies. Knowledge and experience of using SAP R3 and membership of a recognised professional body would be desirable. Knowledge of a foreign language would be an advantage. Problem solving and decision making will be essential skills required as will good IT skills
Working in the Procurement and Logistics Business Unit for one of the world's leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry, the Materials Controller will be required to coordinate Expediting activities for projects being undertaken at each location and ensure that sufficient expediting visits are made to the contractors to determine their ability to meet their contractual delivery dates for documentation and goods.
Reporting to the Quality Control / Logistics Manager, the Materials Controller's duties will include: - Being point of contact for expediting issues on the nominated site. - Managing the expediting of project related milestones with contractors. - Working with all levels of personnel at the company's contractors and their sub-contractors. - Providing timely and effective resolution of queries arising from contractors. - Providing accurate and fully detailed reports on visits to contractors - Developing, monitoring and controlling the provision of "free issued" items to a contractor. - Performing Open Package Inspection - Travelling to contractor's facilities to audit their performance including overseas secondments - Assisting Procurement in the claims and counter claims with the contractors - Providing feed back on contractor's performance - Coordinating with the company's other locations to ensure that expediting visits to suppliers are optimised. - Producing an expediting schedule for each project
This position is based in Sheffield but the successful candidate but must be prepared to travel to other locations in the UK.
All candidates for the position of Material Controller should have a current Driving Licence and passport and be able to travel both nationally and internationally, possibly at short notice.
