We are looking for a General Manager (Continuous Casting) to work in a metallurgical plant design and building company in their Iron and Steel business unit
It is essential that the General Manager (Continuous Casting) has experience of Medium / Heavy Equipment engineering and has been in charge of Project engineering for medium / large projects.
Technical competence in either a mechanical, fluids or electrical or automation discipline is essential; experience of Metallurgical Plant engineering with time in charge of Project Engineering for medium / large projects desirable
All candidates for the position of General Manager (Continuous Casting) should possess leadership capability and the organisational skills for planning, monitoring and controlling as well as excellent people management and motivational skills.
You should be highly motivated and enthusiastic and have the ability to work in a multi-national team and able to deal with colleagues, customers and suppliers worldwide.
Experience, in an engineering capacity, of steel or similar process industry or equivalent industry is required.

The role of General Manager (Continuous Casting) will involve leading, controlling, managing and coordinating the Continuous Casting Project Engineering team which comprises all relevant engineering disciplines. The role will also involve providing technical leadership, guidance and support to the project engineering team and representing them in departmental discussions / meetings.
Day to day duties will include:-
* Taking technical responsibility for the project engineering on continuous casting projects
* Ensuring that the project engineering meets the needs of the client
* Participating in formal equipment and project Design and Safety
* Reviewing projects and pre-projects and reconciling to the estimates.
* Establishing work plans and staffing for projects and arranging for recruitment
* Establishing KPI’s for the Project Engineering performance
* Ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures
* Coordinating activities through the individual Project Engineers
* Mentoring, developing and training team members
* Briefing team members regularly
The General Manager (Continuous Casting/Steel) will need to be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, and preferably be a Chartered Engineer. Encouragement will be given to pursuing relevant professional institution activities including conference participation.
This is a senior position and the General Manager (Continuous Casting/Steel) will be expected to function to a high standard and must be able to travel frequently and at short notice (current driving licence and valid passport required).
