General Manager Projects(Continuous Casting) – experience of Metallurgical Plant - experience of Medium / Heavy Equipment engineering in charge of Project Engineering for medium / large projects - based Sheffield – salary £50K
We are looking for a degree level, or equivalent, Engineer – preferably Chartered - to work as a General Manager (Continuous Casting) in the Iron & Steel business unit of one of the world’s leading engineering and plant building companies for the international metals industry.
The General Manager Projects Continuous Casting) will need to have experience of Medium / Heavy Equipment engineering and to have been in charge of Project Engineering for medium / large project.
All candidates for the position of General Manager Projects (Continuous Casting) should be highly motivated, have the ability to work in a multi-national team and deal with colleagues, customers and suppliers worldwide and possess leadership ability and style
Experience, in an engineering capacity, of steel / similar process industry or equivalent industry is essential and experience of Metallurgical Plant engineering desirable
Knowledge of German would be an advantage as would experience of steel industry casting processes or metallurgical plant engineering field.
You would be required to work at a centre for Continuous Casting design which is the worldwide competence centre for Iron making (Blast Furnaces) and one of the key technologies in the manufacturing of steel.
The role of General Manager (Continuous Casting) – Iron and Steel will involve leading and coordinating the Project Engineering team and will also involve on a day to day basis
• Providing technical leadership to the project engineering team.
• Taking responsibility for the control of the Project Engineering process.
• Controlling the allocation of resource into the project teams.
• Ensuring that KPI’s are achieved.
• Representing the project engineering team in discussions / meetings.
• Taking technical responsibility for the project engineering including calculations, drawings and manuals
• Participating in formal project Design and Safety Reviews
• Ensuring that your team achieve their objectives
• Coordinating the Project Engineering teams and resolving conflicting requirements between teams.
This is a senior position and the General Manager (Continuous Casting) – Iron and Steel will be expected to function to a high standard, liaising frequently with management team members. Visits will be required to the company’s other offices as well as customers and supplier’s works and sites, many of which are overseas.
Encouragement will be given to pursuing relevant professional institution activities including conference participation.
