We are looking for a Development Engineer with Solidworks 3D skills and the ability to prove designs with structural calculations
The Design/Development Engineer should have a proven track record in developing new industrial products to produce engineering/ production drawings to BS EN standards and manage all drawing production/ issue and maintenance for a company in the building products industry
Candidates for the position of Development Engineer should have a HND / Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering related subject and knowledge of Structural steel Fabrication /Casting/ Pressing/ Forging or similar
The Development engineer should have experience of design from concept through prototype evaluation to final production tooling and finished product and be used to managing change and the introduction of new methods, both in design and production
Strong people and employee relation skills are required as are contemporary management methods and lean engineering / manufacturing methods
Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the main purpose of the role of Development Engineer is to assist in new product design and design modifications for the company's existing products and communicate technical information in a clear and informative manner
The role will also involve:-
* Developing technically innovative design solutions
* Problem solving and resolving engineering applications
* Documenting all product & prototype development
* Assisting in the creation and documentation of engineering projects including the development of commercial studies and reports
* Getting involved in a variety of engineering/ development / design based projects
* Using Solidworks 2008 3D solid modelling
* Writing technical and test reports
* Assisting in testing activities
* Liaising with subcontractors and additional sources.
* Attending site visits as part of the product design process
Training in the use of equipment and procedures will be given as necessary
