A highly talented Engineer is required by our client to provide project and technical leadership on work relating to all aspects of traffic signal and urban information and control systems.
Providing senior support and management of staff in the feasibility, design and implementation of intelligent transport systems projects you will be responsible for:
• Project and technical management to the Highways Agency, Transport Scotland and Local Authority clients • Resource planning and allocation • Delivery to programme and budget • Preparing feasibility studies, designs, specifications, programmes and cost estimates for specific jobs, keeping up-to-date in technology • Liaising with other technical disciplines and clients as required on technical aspects • Evaluating engineering problems and consulting with technical experts, as necessary, to develop cost effective and robust solutions • Identifying appropriate design aids and making use of them • Assisting with the preparation of tender documents, providing information for reports and participating in particular investigations as required • Working and communicating on a diverse range of projects • Undertaking presentations to clients and senior management ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental procedures.
You will be degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or a related discipline and will preferably have or be close to achieving Chartered status.
With extensive experience of traffic signals control methods including MOVA, you will also have a thorough knowledge and experience of UK regulations, requirements and practice, including CDM and DMRB.
Candidates with experience and understanding of the ITS industry within the Local Authority and Highways Agency business sector, understanding and application of PRINCE2 / MAPM methodologies and principles, knowledge of CPGS, VMS, SCOOT, UTMC and experience in the marketing and selling of consultancy services will be at an advantage.
You will have a confident and professional manner with a high expectation of performance from yourself and other team members, will have the ability to work collaboratively in a matrix structure, will possess a clear and thorough communication style and will have a supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of teams.
A full driving licence valid in the UK is essential.
Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £34 - 40,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
