Job description
A specialist group within the Transportation division in the Leeds office has been established for rapid transit projects such as light rail, trams, trolley buses and BRT schemes. Due to increasing workload we are looking to recruit a chartered or nearly chartered transportation team leader to work on rapid transit projects. We now require a graduate to support further expansion of our busy and successful team.
The role will provide a range of challenging and dynamic projects where you will have the ability to receive and develop a brief and contribute to the development of the design and construction process.
The work will be primarily office based, but there may be an opportunity to supervise the construction of works.
Key elements of the role include:
• Involvement in a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes from conception through to completion • Plan, design and implement LRT/highways/railways projects • Preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments • Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects (Architect, Quantity Surveyor etc) and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a ‘hands on’ role in technical matters both at project and divisional level • Interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals
Candidate specification
Essential qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:
• Degree qualified in a Civil Engineering or transport related subject • Post graduate experience in highways or transportation • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams • Project administration experience • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally)
Desirable qualifications, experience, competencies and skills:
• Previous Light Rapid Transit experience • Experience of AutoCAD, Bentley MX • Experience of LINSIG, TRANSYT, and ARCADY • A working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges DMRB |
