Due to an expansion of my clients work in brownfield, involving some of the UK’s largest land development projects, the geotechnics team in thier Birmingham office are seeking to strengthen the geo-environmental resources in the Midlands.

They currently require a brownfield engineer to join an integrated team of geotechnical, hydrogeological and contaminated land specialists, which investigates and designs remediation of derelict land for infrastructure and development.

Your primary skills should be in the reclamation of derelict and contaminated sites. You will be involved in the specification of ground investigations, their interpretation, risk assessment, reporting for clients and regulatory agencies and the design of remediation.

The successful applicant will need to be familiar with the wider development process and be comfortable with working with developers to achieve their objectives. You should have knowledge of the tools of contaminated land and groundwater risk assessment and have a good working knowledge of current legislation and EA procedures. You must have a proven record of designing, procuring and reporting on contaminated land investigations for clients and regulators. The ideal candidate will be familiar with geotechnical design software.

All candidates should possess a first degree in civil engineering, environmental science or closely related discipline and a post-graduate qualification (PhD or MSc) in an appropriate geotechnical or geo-environmental subject would be advantageous. Ideally you will be chartered and also possess a full UK driving licence.

You should be a good team player, able to work flexibly and reliably to deadlines and budgets, and apply a commercial approach to your work. You should thrive on new challenges and be able to coach less experienced team members.
