Excitation Control Engineer - Rotating Machines
Our Client is a worldwide specialist in Power Conversion. They provide customized solutions to convert electrical energy through optimum application of technology in drives, controls, motors and generators.
Their customers operate in three main markets: Marine, Energy and Industry as well as in many specialized areas.
They cover every aspect from design-only to turnkey systems, installation and commissioning, all backed by a full range of support services.
Your Role is :
Senior Design Engineer within the Electrical Machines Manufacturing Unit.
Responsibility for the design of all types of excitation, synchronising and protection equipment for synchronous motors and generators, for both general industry and the utilities.
Be responsible for the project engineering, tendering, development and testing activities associated with excitation control systems.
Set up, test and occasionally commission of analogue and digital control systems.
Be responsible for technical liaison with both suppliers and customers.
Provide provision of technical advice and investigations in support of factory, site or warranty issues.
This position will occasionally involve commissioning work, investigation or Sales support, and will require travel within the UK and abroad. A UK driving licence is considered necessary.
Requirements
You will hopefully hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Ideally With a background in power electronics and small signal electronics (including closed loop control).
Successful applicants will hopefully be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the design and application of excitation systems, preferably including static and digital systems.
With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will have a flexible, proactive approach to your work, and be willing to take on new skills.
A flexible approach to working hours is expected to respond to the fluctuating demands of the Company's business.
