My clients are geotechnical specialists provide a service to other sections of the firm as well as undertaking direct geotechnical commissions for many outside bodies such as government departments, local authorities, financial institutions, other consulting engineers, contracting and commercial organisations and private individuals. Projects range from a foundation assessment for a single building to the geotechnical aspects of major projects such as new towns, highways, prestigious structures, airports and bridges.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to join one of their growing practice areas. The role involves being fully competent in your own discipline, being able to work independently with minimal supervision, and being confident to share your expertise with others by providing guidance and support as required. The jobholder will be highly credible with clients, being able to translate client needs into practical requirements and to communicate effectively the value of our services to clients. The role involves specific project responsibilities, including monitoring the accuracy of project plans, escalating problems, identifying risks and managing requirement changes. The jobholder will be required to lead projects and to provide support to team members. The role also involves documenting and sharing success stories and being confident to apply knowledge across different clients and markets.
About You
Ability to undertake foundation, retaining wall, earthworks and other types of geotechnical analysis Familiar with industry standard geotechnical software including finite element and/or finite difference programs. Knowledge of the derivation of geotechnical parameters required for above analyses Familiar with site investigation techniques BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering MSc in Geotechnical engineering/Foundation Engineering or equivalent MICE Experience in both theory and practice of geotechnical engineering Appreciation of construction issues Appreciation of geotechnical risk and uncertainty in design Awareness of the commercial aspects of projects PTS holder an advantage Car driving licence Good communication (both oral and written) Ability to solve geotechnical problems Ability to interact effectively with other professionals in a team Well organised Self motivated
