The role: This company has an exciting vacancy for an experienced electrical design engineer keen to lead projects. You will be part of their growing multi-disciplinary engineering team based in Leamington Spa. You will be responsible for all aspects of electrical design on a wide variety of projects. Your work will include site surveys, optioneering, preparing feasibility reports, detailed design, producing tender documents, evaluating tender returns and providing construction support. In addition to a varied scope of work, you will also work with a wide variety of clients in the Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Waste, Water, Transport & Contractor sectors. You should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team as a self starter and be able to communicate effectively with other members of your team and clients. As the lead electrical engineer, your duties will be wide ranging and include responsibility for: Creating electrical design drawings, such as single line diagrams, block interconnection diagrams, equipment layouts, cable support & routing drawings. Performing and checking cable calculations; both using software and by hand. Creation of equipment, load, instrumentation, etc. schedules from P&IDs. Checking MCC schematic diagram functionality. Performing DSEAR/ ATEX compliance survey's · Assisting in factory and site acceptance testing Attending operational and construction sites in support of the above as required. First Degree BEng/ MEng Electrical Engineering or HNC/D with extensive experience. Focus Project Delivery Experience You will need to demonstrate the following attributes: Have a good technical understanding of electrical principles Be able to communicate clearly; both verbally and in the production of good quality written documentation. Recent electrical design experience of projects and duties similar to some of those mentioned above. Detailed installation design to BS7671. Specific experience in the evaluation, design, and specification of electrical power and control systems, including the production of electricity supply, switchgear and motor control centre, instrumentation, and cabling detailed design packages. An ability to travel and visit operational and construction sites on occasion, to act in a safe manner, and to survey assets, inspect, and witness test electrical equipment and installations as required. Possession of a valid UK driving licence is essential, as is a willingness to travel and work for limited periods elsewhere within the UK. Proficiency in the use of AutoCad and AMTECH software would be an advantage. A practical appreciation of electrical safe systems of work. Some HV experience up to 11kV would be preferable but not necessary. Preferably be Chartered or be qualified and working towards obtaining Chartered status. Typically we would expect someone to have around 5-7 years' experience to have the skills and knowledge required to undertake this role successfully
