Chief Engineer, Drive Systems needed within the Power Conversion Industry

Your Role is:
A Chief Engineer position has arisen to manage the Variable Speed Drive Application and Cubiclisation sections of the Central Engineering Support function.
Main Tasks Include:
Oversee the engineering and application of variable speed drive systems. Technical and risk review of tenders, contracts and developments in conjunction with Technology Manager. Putting forward development proposals in conjunction with other Chief Engineers and Technology Managers. Resource allocation to the specific projects in conjunction with Section Leaders and other Chief Engineers. Working with the Section Leaders, identify staff development needs, recruitment requirements and selection of new staff. Human Resource Management of engineers including pay, discipline, etc. In conjunction with Section Leaders, supervise appraisals and approvals (expenses, overtime, holiday/flexi leave, travel). Responsible for assessment of safety, issue of engineering Competency certificates, completion of S&R reviews. Preparation and administration of cost centre budget. Personal Attributes
As the ideal candidate you will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It is essential that you are a Chartered Engineer, and have extensive experience in the design and application of drive systems (drive trains, mechanical systems and control systems). You will also have experience in leadership of engineering resources, and project management. Process Improvement or Six Sigma awareness training and experience of IGBT or thyristor based drives, drive control systems, programming and/or simulation and knowledge of the application and commissioning of drives is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate should also hold a full, clean UK driving license.
