Thermodynamics Engineer

Our Client is a global leader in the world of power generation and sets the benchmark for innovative and environmentally friendly technologies.
The company designs, manufactures and supplies state-of-the-art products and systems to the power generation - for gas, coal, and hydro power plants - and industrial markets

Your Role

Your role will include Thermodynamic analysis of turbo machinery components. Performance & efficiency optimisation of advanced steam power plant in international R&D development projects.

Main Tasks Include:

  • Thermodynamic cycle analysis of R&D projects supporting new steam, retrofit and nuclear activities.

  • Focus on integrated steam plant developments, covering all steam turbine and balance of plant technology aspects required to meet the future needs of a wide range of international projects

  • Engineering and concept thermodynamic analysis (using both industry standard MS applications and in-house bespoke software)

  • Assessment of internal & external supplied specifications and plant operational data

  • Initiation and implementation of technology and product development, process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.


  • Required Skills:

  • Hopefully you will have a degree or equivalent in thermo/mechanical engineering or similar relevant discipline.

  • Specific experience in thermodynamic analysis of steam power plant would be advantageous.

  • General turbomachinery experience would be an advantage.

  • Power plant site experience would also be an advantage.

  • The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude with high levels of self motivation and a willingness to innovate and challenge established practice.

  • You will hopefully have the ability to meet deadlines and work in an International environment.

    Salary Details

    Salary negotiable (cannot advertise I am sorry so please call to find)

    Hours of Work

    37 hours per week.(flexi-time)

    Holiday Entitlement

    25 days per year basic entitlement. Floating bank holidays - agreed annually. Holiday pro-rata during 1st year of employment.
