What is the Role?
As a Technical manager in Birmingham you will be heading up on these 3 main projects.
1. The M40 Junction 15
2. The A45 Toolbar End Improvement Scheme
3. Tyne Tunnel in Newcastle, which involves bridges, cut and covers and immersed tube section.
Other workload includes;
· New build and asset management structural work for the County Council
· Working within Area 3
· Assessment and inspections of Bridges – working with the Plymouth branch
· Supporting the Birmingham Water Team
Major Opportunities this vacancy gives you include;
· Long span bridge opportunities in India, Europe and East Asia
· Supporting the property sector, who is working on the largest projects in the Middle East and Dubai
· Support on major rail projects
· Detailed design of Tube Tunnel and Post tension viaducts in Bahrain
· Detailed design of Diaphragm walls and bridges in Bahrain – due to start next year
· Major Highway ECI project in Wales
· Major highway and rail projects in Ireland
· Bridge inspection and assessment in Northern Ireland
Who are the likely candidates?
This role involves 80% technical work, and 20% business development.
A likely candidate will need much experience in the design of medium – long span, post tension concrete bridges. You will be required to travel to the middle east, and therefore those candidate willing to travel are required. You will need to continue to be up to date with current changes in standards and codes, as well as design stofware. A suitable candidate will need proof of delivering projects on time, within budget and to clients requirements, and be able to undertake technical reviews.
Other requirements involve business development. Working with the Technical and Fucntion Director, you will involved in the business and function plans for the group. A likely candidate will have experience implementing Key Account Management, as you will be required to maintain relationships with local and overseas markets.
Bid Management and Technical review for bid proposals are also an aspect of this role that a likely candidate will be required to have previous experience in.
What Skills do I need?
· Chartered Engineer
· Many years experience on Highway Bridges
· Team Leadership
· Client liaising
· 10+ years technical and project deliver experience within the UK and overseas markets
· Competent in the design and analysis of post-tensioned concrete and box-girder bridges to UK and overseas standards
