ROLE: Principal Designer PURPOSE: To deliver design safely, to time, profitably and to customer satisfaction
SALARY: £35,000 BENEFITS: 25 days holiday + Pension + Life Assurance LOCATION: Birmingham
Key Duties:
•Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements. •Report to Design Engineer/Design Verifier for guidance and instruction as required. •Produce design calculations and drawings. •Verification and validation of Engineering non complex design drawings •Direct assisting design personnel and other personnel as required. •Contribute to the production of design investigations, reports and specifications. •Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards. •Ensure project change for design package is fully Implemented and recorded •Undertake work using formal processes and procedures. •Manage and record time and assist in providing time estimates for tasks •Interface with testing, installation and other departments as necessary. •Assist with testing and commissioning
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
•Design packages delivered to programme and budget. •Design packages comply with good design practice, relevant technical, professional and group standards. •Accurate design packages with minimum of rework. (e.g. Error reports) •Effective and organised team. •Accurate and complete design records. •Successful audits. •Log book, CPD records. •Achievement of further education qualifications where relevant.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS+ EXPERIENCE
•PTS •1.1.130 Principle Designers Licence •HNC level education in an engineering discipline, with experience •Knowledge of railway construction methods and materials used. •Detailed knowledge of Group and company standards and procedures and HSE legislation. •Good office applications and CAD and CAD standards knowledge. •Ability to plan and produce compliant signalling schemes with minimum supervision.
Detailed knowledge of : •Signalling principles. •Circuits and components •Implications of working with other disciplines. •Management of safety, health, environment and quality.
