Purpose of the Job To join a team tasked with the application of the latest research and development to industrial steam turbines. This job within the team is to undertake mechanical design associated with the stressing and vibration analysis of rotating and stationary parts of the turbine. This will include working with other engineers involved in the machines development. The job includes liaison with other parts of the company and with external organisations around the world. The aim is to develop and deliver high efficiency and cost effective turbines into the market within a relatively short period of time.
Essential skill requirements Experience of:
Design of rotating machines
Stressing of rotating shafts
Blade vibration
Rotor dynamics
Design of components under creep conditions
Desirable skill requirements Experience in the mechanical design of steam or gas turbines, in particular:-
A basic understanding of aerodynamics
Finite element stress analysis
Heat transfer
Thermal stress analysis
Language skills required
Fluent in English is essential.
The ability to speak additional languages is desirable.
