The role: An opportunity to work in an exciting and growing area, at the heart of key sustainability themes in energy and waste management.
You will have played a key role in the development and implementation of thermal energy projects and have experience of technical and commercial appraisal of these projects and of interfacing with Clients across a diverse range of businesses.
You will have been involved in projects using a variety of fuels such as biomass, energy from waste and fossil fuels and have a good knowledge of the principles of CHP.
Projects will cover technology issues, development of capital projects, market development themes and policy issues.
This is a chance to develop and use a range of skills, including managing projects and project teams, and sometimes acting as the principal client interface.
You will have a good understanding of energy conversion technologies, including combustion, gasification and pyrolysis, will be equally conversant with the drivers and barriers associated with the successful development of commercial projects and have an understanding of policy instruments in the energy and waste management sectors.
Above all, you will have excellent communication skills and an ability to identify and focus on clients' needs in the delivery of your work.
Past involvement in the development of thermal power projects preferred. Knowledge of application of fuel-conversion technologies is essential. Knowledge of policy drivers and energy trading/supply arrangements for small generators very useful. Understanding of consultancy role worthwhile. Typically we would expect around 5 years' relevant experience to have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake this role successfully.
Appointment will be considered at Consultant grade for less experienced candidates.
