Prime Purpose To price work competively and ensure resources are used effectively
Responsible For Competitive tender pricing
Main Duties · Allocating resources needed for tender, e.g. procurement, planning & QS; obtaining feedback from colleagues who have been involved in previous similar projects · Analysing and understanding documentation for potential contracts · Pricing work; collecting information re suppliers etc; discussing prices with senior management · Revisiting tender; attend handover meetings with Operations Department/ Site Agents/Buyers etc · Providing information on a regular basis to the Chief Estimator
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience · ONC in Engineering or equivalent · 3 years experience in a construction-estimating environment. · Have an in-depth knowledge of the construction industry, both commercial and practical · Experience in site management or quantity surveying · Working knowledge of Company estimating software
Critical Skills and Abilities · Organising work and self; planning ahead and prioritising work to achieve required outcomes · Sound at logistics, planning and solving problems · Communication skills, including liaison with relevant areas in the Company and clients · Establishing information networks to search for and gather relevant information · Ensuring objectives and targets are reviewed; taking corrective action to meet deadlines and strict cost limits · Actively building relationships with team members and others within the Company; using the ability to influence and persuade people · Capable in the use of current computer software · The ability to deal with figures · The ability to read specifications, drawings, bills of quantity etc |
