My client is one of the top contractors renowned for their wealth of experience and expertise within the highways sector.
They have been successfully awarded and are poised to commence a busy programme of highway maintenance works for the 2008/2009 financial year. This is a £multi million pound project that will be on a rolling annual programme.
THE ROLE:
They are actively recruiting for a Surfacing Agent and a Supervisor for the Midlands to start as soon as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
You will be responsible for the supervision of the Surfacing Supervisor who in turn supervises the surfacing sub contractors, liaising with the local authority and dealing with members of the public on a day to day basis. The projects are maintenance on main carriageway and back streets relaying 40ml thick plastic asphalt.
You will be assembling packs including Safety, Method Statements and Risk Assessments and would ideally be looking for a long term move where further promotions would be available based on performance.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Ideally you will have come steadily up the ranks from a machine layer and you will already have extensive experience in the carriageway resurfacing industry with machine laying of mainly asphalts (not solely from black top patching works) and ideally in a high density urban environment. You may already be a Surfacing Supervisor who would like to take a step up the ladder to the next management level or alternatively already a Supervising Agent who would just like a change of scenery.
You will be implementing Health and Safety procedures and be self motivated and experienced enough to give guidance to the Supervisor when necessary.
It is essential that you have a H&S certificate as my client pride's themselves on their safe working environments. A Streetworks certificate would be advantageous although not essential.
You will be running a number of different projects at any one time.
SALARY: In the region of £35k (depending on experience).
HOURS:
7am to 4pm (normally)
