My client are one of the largest engineering consultancies in the UK and one of the world's leading rail engineers. Its rail business is the largest in its field in Europe. They are involved in the planning, design and enabling of complex capital projects from designing the world’s tallest buildings to improving the efficiency of major public transport systems. They lead the way across a diverse range of disciplines. Their size brings significant value to their clients, allowing them to harness an unrivalled pool of creative, professional people to produce outstanding solutions to challenging problems.

They are currently recruiting a Senior Rail Civils Design Engineer and/or Project Manager to join their West Midlands team. As the senior member of the team of engineers and technicians designing bridges and railway structures, responsibilities of the role will include supervising work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget. As part of the role you will contribute to a forward workload and assist to encourage growth through expanding their existing client base to provide consultancy services including GRIP 1-3 feasibilities, outline design, detailed design and consultancy advice.

You will have a degree in civil or structural engineering (or equivalent) together with an appropriate level of experience, you are likely to be a chartered or incorporated engineer through either the ICE or IStructE or be close to achieving chartered status. On many projects you will take the role of Project Manager which includes liaising with the client and taking responsibilities for commercial issues, you will also guide and mentor less experienced members of the team. Experience of the railway industry would be beneficial
