The Birmingham office covers the Midlands region (generally the administrative counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and the West Midlands) and is the administrative centre of the Midland and South Division. We now require a Chartered Civil Engineer to support our expanding Geotechnical team. The role will provide a range of challenging, dynamic and high-profile projects.
Job description
The successful applicant would be expected to bring a breadth of civil engineering based experience such that they would be competently able to work independently as far as possible, with the confidence of there being a large geotechnical community behind them to support them as necessary.
We are seeking an ambitious Chartered Civil engineer, with experience of Geotechnical engineering. This position will offer you the chance to work with a wide range of public and private sector clients.
• Undertake desk studies and ground investigations
• Complete a wide range of geotechnical designs including shallow & deep foundations, earthworks, slopes, reinforced earth and walls
• Undertake project management duties
• Cost control
Report production and project management will be required, as will liaison with external clients. The successful candidate will be presented with varied and exciting career opportunities within a dynamic team.
Candidate specification
To be considered you will need to demonstrate a stable background working within Civil engineering.
Essential:
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of technical / academic ability within a fast moving commercial consultancy environment
• Previous foundation experience
• The ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff and external clients
• Excellent team working skills
• Self motivated with a positive and friendly attitude
Desirable:
• A good academic background to MSc or equivalent in a relevant subject and be chartered
• Cost control experience
• Numerical analysis experience (Plaxis or Flac) would be desirable
• Significant experience in Geotechnical design |
