My client has an opportunity for two Bridge Engineers ideally with experience of highways structures to join their growing team in Birmingham. You will be working in a supportive, friendly environment assisting the Project Engineers in the delivery of designs on a technical basis.
You will hold a relevant degree within the Engineering Sector and be keen to pursue your career to Chartership status. Previous experience of highways structures design or bridge assessments would be desirable for this role as would previous experience of inspections and knowledge of DMRB highway design standards.
Your responsibilities will be to progress projects through preliminary and detailed design stages to ensure client requirements are met, producing structural calculations pertaining to highways structures in accordance to BS5400 and other related standards and codes. You will also be preparing scheme drawings suitable for each level of the design process and undertaking the structural analysis by both computer based modelling and manual methods.
This role is a diverse role within the bridges team and you will be required to undertake structural inspections and assessment inspections (a clean driving licence will be required for this role). Subsequently you will produce the technical reports and therefore good communication skills will be required, both verbal and written to ensure a high level of accuracy in the reports produced. You will be computer literate and be familiar in the use of a range of structural assessment software including AutoCAD.
