Responsibilities
An Engineer is required to identify and develop improvement schemes based on detailed analysis of the Highway asset and performance data. The role will include the ability to address scheme options to determine best value, with particular reference to keeping traffic moving. This will require innovation and development of alternative methods of working.
Identification of schemes and studies (environmental, economic, safety, accessibility, integration and pilot) to meet the Governments 10 year Strategic Plan and Annual Business Plan Identify schemes and carry out outline design of proposals Project management of work carried out through external offices Support CVM and bidding process Manage projects being carried out through external offices / suppliers Liaise with internal teams to gather information about the state of the network and assess and prioritise Liaise with stakeholders Provide technical advice to other parts of the organisation Supervise and support for junior members of the team Requirements Qualifications:
Minimum HND /HNC qualification or equivalent in a relevant field Desirable Experience:
Sufficient and appropriate post qualification experience Good knowledge of traffic engineering applications and road safety Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients Good knowledge of Highways Agency policy and design standards Knowledge of the functions of a Highway Authority Experience of working with Highways Agency and Local Authorities Conversant with AutoCAD MS Excel and Word conversant Ability to work unsupervised Experience with Microsoft Office Applications Valid UK / EEC Driving Licence
