Projects Engineer (Water Industry)– West Midlands – to £30k
Our client specialize in the design and supply of equipment used in the treatment of domestic and industrial water and wastewater, and as a result of recent positive restructuring and a series of strategic acquisitions that have provided the organisation with recognized trademarks, cutting edge technology and access to new markets including sea water desalination and energy, they offer a complete range of both solutions and products on a Global basis and are seeking to recruit an experienced Projects Engineer to compliment their existing team.
Based in the West Midlands, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of management and financial control of one or a number of contracts as directed, and will be in regular direct contact with the customer as the internal interface with all Company departments. Upon receipt of an order from the Proposals Engineer, you will be required to become familiar with all requirements of the contract, and then will go on to become responsible for the setting up of schedules for the timely submission and completion of all drawings, technical data, manufacturing and installation schedules, as agreed with the customer, and will oversee the progress on the contract by holding regular in-house meetings or discussions with the departments concerned.
You will monitor and report on any variations to the Contracts Manager, including costs and problems that may change the forecast delivery, profitability, or warranty of such contracts at every stage of the project, whilst maintaining contact with the customer, advising of progress, responding to correspondence and any queries relating to that contract. You will attend contractual meetings with the customer as necessary, both in the UK and Overseas if required and maintain an effective system of contract management, as well as liaise closely with the Installation Manager on installation and commissioning of the equipment and monitor the warranty period in order to minimise warranty claims.
To be considered for this challenging role, you will demonstrate previous Project Management experience within the full cycle from handover through to Installation/ Warranty, and will have attained a relevant qualification in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering. Whilst previous experience allied to the Water Industry is preferred, this is not essential as training can be given on the Company’s product. The ability to manage several projects of varying sizes at one time, and co-ordinate activity within these projects however IS essential, with knowledge and understanding of contracts of business and excellent organisational and communication skills distinctly advantageous.
