An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Development Manager working for one of our automotive clients involved with roadside assistance based in the West Midlands Reporting to the Director of Technical, the jobholder will be responsible for gaining competitive advantage and maintaining our client’s roadside patrols as the most effective in the industry through technical development and innovation. The role holder will also be responsible for overseeing the department's technical relationships with Motor Manufacturers. The purpose of the role will be to: • Lead the development of technical strategy on behalf of the department. • Oversee our client’s technical relationships with motor manufacturers to ensure that our client’s ability to add value through providing customers with technical insight remains a competitive advantage. • Monitoring emerging new technologies in both motor vehicles and service delivery processes and assess their relevance to our clients strategic and operational goals. • Manage the development of technical solutions which give our client a competitive advantage in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. These will be principally but not exclusively in the areas of Patrol Vehicle Systems and mobile communications, Diagnostics and vehicle development. • Develop and motivate the Technical Support team to achieve high levels of colleague satisfaction, high levels of resilience and low levels of turnover.
Experience Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications • Chartered Engineer or equivalent • Degree in relevant scientific discipline Skills / Knowledge • Comprehensive understanding of electronics, communications, location technology, IT electrical and automotive systems • Strong analytical skills with a capacity to understand complex multi-variable situations • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills including public speaking and an ability to interact with the public • Excellent project management skills including technical and financial aspects • Proven team management skills
