An automotive OEM requires a Senior CAD Designer Engineer Position Description: The area seeks to recruit an experienced mechanical design / project engineer, with a proven background in bracket design, tooling and manufacture. Electrical Component Mounting Systems is responsible for the design, development and release of any interface part that is deemed necessary to mount an electrical component(s) to the vehicle. Typically these parts are brackets, manufactured either from steel, aluminium or plastic. The role also includes bracket avoidance (influencing other Product Development areas to facilitate direct mounting), as well as end-item fixing / complexity reduction and the management of production and prototype suppliers. Skills Required: Project management skills. Experience of bracket design, tooling and manufacture. Good communication and presentation skills to all levels. Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Good team player, who is self motivated to deliver good quality products. Skills Preferred: Experienced in Catia v4, Catia v5 and/or I-DEAS geometry authoring tools. Experienced in VisMockup, 4DNav and/or DMU geometry visualisation tools. Experience and knowledge of Ford/J&LR change management and release processes (PACN, WERS, AIMS, eFDVS, APQP and PSW). Experience of problem solving tools. Experience Required: Bracket design and tooling experience. Mechanical automotive product design experience (e.g. Body Engineering, BIW, Chassis, Trim etc.) Experience forming parts from sheet steel, aluminium and plastic injection mouldings.
