Our client a global automotive electronics company are looking for a Design Engineer to joining the Design and Development department in Coventry.
The D&D department is directly responsible for the development and design of wire harness distribution systems in line with the customer’s requirements. This includes the production of the physical routing of the EDS system on 3D CAD and the production of the 2D wire harness drawings and installation sketches which are used to make the actual harness.
The general purpose of this role is to: • Ensure best practice solutions used to achieve all programme EDS design deliverables. • Carry out concept design studies utilising CAE tools and physical bucks. • Prepare component drawings for release into customers systems and the clients’ plants. • Carry out on site evaluation of product at vehicle assembly plants. • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customer. • Be responsible for receiving, monitoring and providing customer responses and actions. • Support APQP activities where required. • Obtain and implement specifications Measurement and reporting of progress against the project plan
Successful candidate will be educated in an Engineering Degree with practical design experience with tier 1 EDS supplier or form a VW base. In addition to this you will need: • Strong Design abilities • CAD experience with (C3P, IDEAS, CATIA, AutoCAD) • Working knowledge of FPDS, DVP, FMEA & APQP. • Effective Time Management. • Conversant with quality systems such as Q1, QS9000 & TS16949
