Our client a global automotive electronics company are looking for a Component Engineer to joining the EDS Engineering Department in Coventry. The EDS Engineering team provides the design interface between first tier and OEM automotive engineering centres based throughout Europe. They achieve their aim with a small team of design engineers who work in the collection of data and assimilation of which to enable electro- mechanical products, predominantly electrical distribution systems (EDS) to be designed, verified and validated whilst ensuring customer satisfaction throughout.
The primary task of this role is to: • Provide the customer with the technical interface required to achieve all programme deliverables related to bespoke component and power distribution products. • Carry out concept design studies utilising CAE tools and physical bucks. • Prepare component drawings and release into customers system. • Support on site evaluation of product at vehicle assembly plants. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers. • Be responsible for receiving, monitoring and providing customer and full service responses and actions. • Create project-timing plans for communication to customer, Maintain/update timing plans. • Support programme manager on APQP activities where requires. • Obtain and monitor specifications. • Measurement and reporting of progress against the project plan. • Recommend and take necessary action when progress deviates from plan. • Immediately report any major roadblocks to management with recommended course of action. Support all testing activities
Successful candidate will be educated in an Engineering Degree with experience CAD experience (C3P, IDEAS, CATIA) and knowledge of extrusions, injection moulding, PCB and metal pressings. In addition to this you will need a working knowledge of FPDS/GPDS, DVP, FMEA & AQPQ and TQM philosophy.
This position requires knowledge of vehicle assembly process which includes EDS related aspects and a strong IT skills (Microsoft Office). Furthermore it also requires a conversant with quality systems such as Q1, QS9000 & TS 16949. English language is essential whilst other lingual capabilities would be advantageous
