An automotive OEM requires a CAE Analyst
Position Description: Assist the development and application of power train cooling system CAE models, principally using Flow master. Support the acquisition and preparation of component data and boundary conditions. Conduct vehicle-level simulation of power train cooling systems for a variety of vehicles and steady-state and transient drive cycles, supporting cooling system design, CO2 reduction and cabin comfort improvement. Generate formal analysis reports. Assist the development of power train thermal management system simulation methodology.
Skills Required: Skilled in the use of Flow master for cooling system performance simulation and optimisation - Good understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer principles and knowledge of power train heat rejection - Able to articulate model input and validation data reqts. And identify data reqts. For reliable simulation - Able to work independently and complete tasks accurately with minimum supervision - Able to trace, identify and correct sources of error or inaccuracy in CAE models - Well-developed data analysis and presentation skills; able to explain simulation results to a wide audience"
Skills Preferred: Familiarity with CAD visualisation systems (e.g. Visual Mock-up) - Knowledge of physical vehicle cooling sign-off test cycles - Familiarity with vehicle performance simulation an advantage - Proven relevant experimental capability (power train and/or vehicle test)"
Experience Required: Proven success in the application of Flow master to power train cooling system design and development - Clear evidence of a sound understanding of fluid mechanics and heat transfer - Demonstrated tenacity in acquiring model input and correlation data - Experience of power train cooling component and / or system parametric studies and system optimisation - Extensive experience of model correlation to physical test data - Experience of simulation output data interpretation and presentation"
Experience Preferred: Experience with other cooling system simulation software (e.g. Kuli, GT-Cool, AMESim) is an advantage - Experience in related disciplined such as cooling airflow and HVAC is an advantage - Experience of cooling system and component design / development is highly desirable - Experience of cooling system and / or engine heat rejection physical testing is highly desirable"
Education Required: Educated to degree level in an appropriate engineering or related discipline
