An automotive OEM requires a CAE Analyst
Position Description:
Body Strength and Durability CAE Analyst. Development of CAE methods for adhesives, welds, and SPRs, test support and test-to-CAE correlation. Update and modification of body structure, closure structure, and other body components, local stiffness models, including chassis components and body joining definition. Models will be created to run in ABAQUS and MSC/NASTRAN and shall take account of all relevant component areas that affect local body area/body component to be analysed. Analyses will include local strength, permanent deformation and Finite Element based fatigue life calculation using NCODE Design Life. The analyst shall be responsible for identifying and reporting issues identified from analyses to the Body Durability CAE Technical Specialist. Analyst will also be responsible for all documentation of all work carried out in line with local procedures, and preparation of 'lessons learnt' documentation to provide benchmark knowledge for future work on other programmes.
Skills Required:
Good understanding of appropriate pre and post processing toolsets o Hypermesh, or ANSA for finite element model creation. ABAQUS non-linear (including contact) MSC/Nastran linear stress and modal. Stress life or strain life fatigue prediction via FE methods, preferably using NCODE Design Life. PC skills - word, powerpoint, excel. Ability to work fast and accurately as a member of a small team. Able to deliver timely report-outs of recent work and overall status.
Skills Preferred:
Geometry creation in Catia. Strength/fatigue analysis of joints such as bolted, riveted, seam welded, spotwelded, glued, etc... Excel macro programming
Experience Required:
Competent in this area requiring supervision and/or assistance only where the issues or situation faced is highly complex and/or business critical. (Some experience working on similar project. Demonstrates most of the knowledge and skills required).
Experience Preferred:
The Body Strength and Durability CAE engineers will have capability to conduct the tasks described below and have relevant experience that demonstrates that ability Body and Closures strength and durability analyses Modelling and analysis support Sectional Property Calculation Creation of FE Models, using Hypermesh and/or ANSA inc. BIW and Trimmed Closures Non-linear materials and geometry, including Contacts Inertia Relief BIW and Trimmed Body Non-linear materials and geometry, including Contacts Inertia Relief Creation of Analysis input decks for Body structure Trimmed Body BIW Closures Trimmed Closures Modal, including mobility Inertia Relief Optimisation Fatigue Run Analyses Strength using HKS/Abaqus Modal using MSC/Nastran Inertia Relief
