The Cardiff office provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary professional services employing around 100 technical staff servicing a varied client base throughout the UK. They are looking to continue their expansion by appointing a Senior Structural Engineer.
Job description If successful you will join a team of 12 dedicated to the design of building structures in which you will fulfil a key technical leadership and project management role. You will be responsible for structural engineering for a range of projects and will provide mentoring and technical guidance to other colleagues. You will also have opportunities to interface with clients and take part in business development activities.
· Delivery of practical, economical and innovative engineering solutions · Carrying out designs to current standards · Checking of design work · Carrying out structural survey work and compilation of written reports · Financial management of projects · Leading projects teams · Client liaison throughout the project lifecycle, from bid preparation through to delivery and management of change · Assessment of health and safety risks at all stages of projects · Production, compilation and checking of studies and reports
Candidate specification Essential requirements: · A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent · intermediate post graduate experience of working in Civil/Structural Engineering · A working knowledge of current design codes · The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts · A high level of motivation and the ability to work on your own initiative · A high level of spoken and written English · Full UK Driving license
Desirable criteria: · Chartered Engineer status · Experience in the financial management of projects · Working knowledge of Microsoft applications · Previous experience of working in a large multi-disciplinary, client facing organisation · A high standard of spoken and written Welsh language
