Structural Engineering Technician Job in Cardiff.
This highly successful structures company is looking to appoint a Senior Structural CAD Technician for their Southern Region will further enhance the Company's engineering resource in the Region and through engineered solutions and technical development will raise the Company's profile as a reinforcement solutions provider. It will enable the Company to offer its customers a more sophisticated and comprehensive service and to strengthen business relationships. This is becoming ever more important for the future development of the Company and will help to differentiate it from many of its competitors. It provides the opportunity for the Company to enter the supply chain at a higher level and have greater influence over customers' purchasing decisions, thereby giving the potential to improve margins and returns. The main purpose of the job is to develop, monitor and deliver the technical and drawing output of the Company's engineering capability in the Southern Region in the provision of its engineered solutions.
The main duties of the job will include:
· Rescheduling and detailing working drawings to achieve better buildability, ease of fixing, ease of production and the maximum use of off-site fabrication.
· Identifying the need for reinforcement continuity solutions.
· Working together with consulting engineers and contractors in the design and build sector to develop and detail cost effective reinforcement solutions.
· Ensuring the quality of the drawing output from the engineering section, managing and checking the output of other CAD technicians.
· Liaising with customers and designers on technical and engineering issues.
The Senior Structural CAD Technician will be based at the Newport depot, where there is an established and successful team of about 90 people comprised of sales, administration and warehouse staff.
The job will involve some travelling as occasional visiting of customers and sites will be part of the requirements of the job.
The ideal person
A competent CAD Technician who has a high level of experience in reinforced concrete detailing and can provide a consistent and high quality level of drawing output. The ability to manage and check the output of other technicians work and to co-ordinate the CAD system within the engineering section and ensure that the CAD delivery and filing protocol are followed.
Relevant experience
Reinforced concrete detailing experience in the construction sector using CAD, together with the supervision and management of technicians and projects.
Qualifications
Recognised technical qualifications.
