What is the Role?
As a Bridge and Structure Inspector you will be working on the inspection of bridge and structural. You will be required to carry out examinations and create reports in a professional manger. You will be working on the UK’s infrastructures structural assets and ensuring that they comply with legislation and safety requirements. The majority of work is rail based.
You will be joining an existing team of around 18. This team have worked closely together on some of the trickiest places in South Wales, and therefore you will need to be able to work well with others. For example, this specialist team of structural asset examiners have abseiled, rowed and created platforms in order to complete their inspections.
Other duties include officially recording details and creating reports of the conditions found, submitting report and other data to engineers. You will be a key part of each project that the company wins. They are currently dealing clients that include Department for Transport, Network Rail, London and Continental Railways and EuroRail. Due to the increase workload that South Wales have received, such as the new Channel Tunnel Rail Link – High Speed 1, as well as retirement from the team, a Bridge and Structure Inspector is needed. Who are the likely candidates?
A likely candidate will have attended British Rail (or similar) Bridge and Structures examiners training course, or have equivalent. You will need to have a Personal Track Safety card, and those with COSS will be favoured. Candidates who have gained Unit 5 will also be preferred.
You will need to have UK based experience; predominantly rail based, as well as be prepared to work at heights from ladders, platforms etc. A suitable candidate will also need to work well as part of a team.
