Senior Design/Project Engineer

SALARY GUIDE:
Range £35,000 to £45,000 (depending on experience) + Package.

Two of the worlds leading manufacturers of medical visualization and energy systems, have joined forces to create a more versatile organization destined to push beyond the boundaries of minimally invasive surgery, through this exciting partnership this new opportunity has been created to support their busy and growning business.

PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
To support all aspects of new electrosurgical product design and development and mechanical systems engineering of the existing product range

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within a project team, lead technical aspects of the development of new and technically innovative electromechanical designs from concept to product release, conducting feasibility studies, calculations, tests and evaluations as necessary.
Ensure that new designs conform to recognised ISO technical, safety and quality standards
Liaise with internal manufacturing and quality engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable in terms of quality, risk and cost.
Anticipate potential technical problems on new products and use structured techniques to ensure that solutions are identified and implemented in a controlled manner.
Perform risk reduction activities on an ongoing basis.
Generate key technical reports and specifications and cross check/approve detailed component drawings and assembly drawings of other team/project engineers
Inform Manager of technical progress and issues.
Work within agreed time and cost constraints.
Liaise with external design consultants assigned to the project as required.
Work in accordance with the requirements of formal company procedures (quality, IT and health and safety)
Provide production support as required to ensure the effective ongoing manufacture of products.
Conduct cost reduction exercises when required.
Ensure all documentation, including drawings, sketches, calculations, records and test data are properly filed and maintained and to keep a full and comprehensive log book.
Attend team meetings, technical progress meetings and product development reviews.
Assist with the development of manufacturing processes and equipment when necessary.
Attend seminars, conferences and exhibitions and partake in training programmes as deemed necessary.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Degree in an engineering discipline preferably mechanical or equivalent
Preferably 6-8 years previous experience in a design related role.
Experience with Medical Devices highly desirable or in a highly regulated environment (aerospace, automotive etc).
Experience with machine tools useful.
Computer literate.
Skilled in design of small scale complex electro-mechanical assemblies.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Team player.
Able to work from verbal instructions.
Microsoft literate.
Able to communicate verbally and good standard of written English
Positive and progressive attitude in all work activities.
