The Company 
This position is within the Development and Regeneration (D&R) business (one of three market-facing business streams within Transport Planning), and deals with all aspects of land development, including transport assessments for new developments, masterplanning, urban regeneration projects, town centre and heritage area environmental enhancements and travel plans. D&R sits within the Transport Planning division which covers all aspects of transport planning from policy research and strategic appraisal through to transport assessments and traffic engineering.  
The D&R business has been very successful in the last year in broadening their workload and client portfolio – they are currently looking for a Senior Consultant with capabilities in Traffic and Transport to strengthen the Transport Planning business unit in their Cardiff office, who can help spearhead further growth by delivering a quality service to both existing and future clients. 
The Role 
The successful candidate will be working within a team, reporting to a team leader, and would be expected to perform the following duties:
Project/ Technical Role:

- Support senior members of staff in delivering development and regeneration projects for both private and public sector clients.
- Project and task management.
- Allocate tasks to the project team, check and monitor their work.
- Ensure that project work is carried out within agreed timescales and budget.
- Analyse, evaluate and appraise development planning problems and options.
- Keep up-to-date with current methods and the latest research in relevant transport fields.
- Represent the group at technical seminars/conferences and promote our capability.

- Business Role:

- Develop good relationships with existing and new clients and partners in order to increase and enhance business.
- Awareness of potential commercial opportunities.
- Support the business unit manager to identify and agree resourcing requirements.
Staff Responsibilities:

- Senior member of team reporting to business unit manager.
- Responsible for effective utilisation of staff resources, quality of work and staff development.
- Identify project-driven office recruitment and training needs.
Assist the unit's less experienced staff in developing their technical skills and knowledge.
 
  Skills Required
Essential
- Sufficient or appropriate level of relevant post-graduate experience in transport planning or other aspects of development planning (such as planning and urban design), preferably in a consultancy environment and including some relevant experience in project management and client liaison.
- Degree or equivalent in transport planning or related subject.
- Specific experience in some of the following: transport assessments, development control and planning, sustainable transport and travel plans, traffic modelling.
- A knowledge and understanding of the planning process and experience in at least some of the main traffic software programs e.g. ARCADY, OSCADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT, VISSIM and PARAMICS.
